Waterford Township’s Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, Jan. 11 to discuss the rezoning of a property to make way for a $16 million to $19 million freight hauling development. The township’s planning commission gave a favorable recommendation to the board for the proposal, submitted by A&K Must Co. II LLC. The applicant is asking for a rezoning from high-tech industrial and office to M-1 light industrial for three parcels with frontage on Williams Drive, located on the west side of Telegraph Road south of Dixie Highway.

The land is currently a vacant, wooded area. If the proposal is ultimately approved, the truck transfer terminal facility would bring about 147 jobs to the area. Its developer is forecasting $7.1 million in annual payroll with 80% of the employees being full time. The average wage would be $55,000 per year. Truck departures from the terminal would take place from 8 to 10 a.m. and return from 9 to 10 p.m. on weekdays. The business would be closed on weekends. Township trustees will take a vote on the rezoning at the 6 p.m. meeting at township hall. The planning commission would then begin the review of the development’s final site plan.
