Now it looks like they’re back with the latest version in the form of the ASUS ROG Phone 5, and boy is it quite a beast of a smartphone that comes with various hardware features that could put other smartphone makers to shame.

First off, the boring stuff. As expected of a flagship phone, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that it packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset. It will also sport a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and a 300Hz touch sampling rate, meaning that this could possibly be one of the most responsive phones to date. The phone will also come with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Given that this is a phone for gaming, ASUS would obviously need a way to cool the phone during intense usage, which they have done through its GameCool 5 solution. It positions the CPU of the phone right in the center for more even heat distribution, plus it also uses a 3D vapor chamber and several graphite sheets.

The phone will also feature AirTrigger ultrasonic triggers and there are also touch sensors on the back of the phone that are designed to replicate the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons you might find on a gaming controller.

The ROG Phone 5 also comes with a triple camera setup consisting of a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor. To round things off, the phone will pack a sizeable 6,000mAh battery with support for 65W Hyper Charge fast charging.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 will be priced starting at €799 for the base model but will go up to €1,299 for the top-of-the-line model, and it will also see a staggered release from now until May.
