More Than 1000 Vacancies Of Technical And Non-Technical Staff Reportedly Are Lying Vacant In Different Departments Of Ministry Of Science And Technology. Owing to these vacant seats, performance of all departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology is being affected and on other side senior officials use to hamper files for approval of new vacancies.

Reliable sources from the ministry revealed that in absence of rules for any particular department, rules prevalent in other government departments were being followed but in Ministry of Science and Technology files were not being forwarded to the federal secretary and minister of science and technology for final decision making.

The sources said that in sub departments of Ministry of Science and Technology including Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, there were 600 posts lying vacant. While in Pakistan Science Foundation 150 posts were vacant. Similarly 70 posts were lying vacant in Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technology and 150 posts were vacant in Pakistan Council of Water Resources Research Center. “35 posts are lying vacant in National Institute of Oceanography, while 60 posts are vacant in National Institute for Electronics,” the sources added. 25 posts are also vacant in National Accreditation Council.

Some officials of Ministry of Science and Technology are of the view that in the absence of various heads of different departments, the process for appointment of various posts is getting delayed.
