Nurse, a ByteDance-listed gaming company, has acquired Shanghai-based game developer and publisher Moonton Technology. According to Reuters, the deal was worth $ 4 billion. Moonton Technology CEO Yuan Jing explained that the studio would continue to operate independently.

ByteDance is the parent company of TikTok, which has recently started moving towards the gaming industry. Last November, it launched Pixmain’s publishing arm and casual games platform Danjuan Games. This is in addition to the previously acquired game studios Ohayoo, Nurse, and PixDance.

ByteDance told Reuters: «Through inter-team cooperation and lessons learned and conclusions from their own Moonton rapid growth would provide strategic support needed to accelerate the global proposals Nuverse in games.

Moonton was established in 2014. The studio is best known for its MOBA for iOS and Android called Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, released in 2016. In 2017, she was targeted by a lawsuit from Riot Games, claiming a League of Legends clone. Riot Games won a lawsuit in 2018, and its parent company, Tencent, received $ 2.89 million.
