Pakistan Innovation Roadshows 2021 are being held across the country to highlight the prowess of Pakistan’s information technology (IT) industry and share the success stories, particularly of startups. The innovation roadshows have so far been held in Abbottabad, Malakand, Swat, Peshawar, Mirpur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Karachi, Quetta and Lahore, a news release said Saturday. More shows would be organized in Gilgit, Hunza and Rawalpindi, and the series would culminate with a roadshow in Islamabad on March 29, 2021. The roadshows are being organized by Ejad Labs in collaboration with Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the attached department of Ministry of IT & Telecom, JS Bank and Jazz Cash and other sponsors. Commenting on the roadshows, PSEB Managing Director Osman Nasir said Pakistan’s IT industry had achieved significant expansion and exports growth with Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore becoming Pakistan’s major ‘tech hubs.’ The next phase of IT growth would come through special focus on secondary and tertiary cities of the country and ‘supporting growth of startups and freelancers within the IT sector,’ he said.

The MD said the PSEB supported all the initiatives intended to ensure holistic growth of IT Industry across Pakistan and was making significant efforts for setting up software technology parks on the fast-track basis in the secondary and tertiary cities.

Pakistan’s IT sector has thrived despite COVID 19 pandemic related global economic slowdown.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) export remittances, including telecommunication, computer and information services have risen to $1.119 billion at a growth rate of 37.86 per cent during July-January of the current fiscal year , in comparison to $811.845 million during same period of the fiscal year 2019-20.
