PUBG has managed to gain over a billion downloads making it one of the fastest spreading game in the world but it is quite unsure that PUBG will steal the number one spot to become the world’s most downloaded game.

PUBG Mobile celebrated their 3rd Anniversary on 21st March 2021 with three new tracks by the popular world-renowned DJs, Alesso, Lost Frequencies, and R3HAB. With their third anniversary, PUBG broke many other records including the highest revenue generator of 2020 with a mind-blowing revenue of 2.6 billion USD. Moreover, PUBG has brought major changes in Battle Royale games which boosted the gaming industry with more than 4 billion USD in player spending. PUBG Mobile currently stands after other popular titles including Kiloo Games’ Subway Surfer and King Digital Entertainment’s Candy Crush Saga.

PUBG has a specified audience and is much more common among young generation whereas games like subway surfer and candy crush are casual games. Most of these titles are easier to pick and mostly appreciated in a wider audience.

Analyst Niko Partners, Daniel Ahmad, commented on the achievement,

“PUBG Mobile achieving 1 billion downloads shows that core games, in this case a AAA Battle Royale title based on the PC IP of the same name, can achieve the same scale in the mobile space.”

The figures were verified by Niko Partners which is the leader in Asian Games Market Intelligence, specializing in the Chinese and Southeast Asian game markets. Reports also confirms that half of the revenue generated by the game is from outside its home market, China. And PUBG publisher Tencent ha become one of the biggest companies of the world by revenue.
