A CBC Analyzer Machine Is Provided To Taluka Hospital Chachro By The AWARE Organization Under The Project Of TDH.

The Thar region has a high rate of infant and maternal mortality rate in the country. Many children under 6 months die within one year many anemic mothers delivering low-weight babies each year in Thar. This is mainly due to poor financial and material resources, which is due to a lack of awareness of basic tests. It is not possible to examine inflammation values, hemoglobin, vital function tests, urea, and urinary tract infections.

A CBC Analyzer Machine Is Provided To Taluka Hospital Chachro By The AWARE Organization Under The Project Of TDH. An inauguration ceremony of handing over of CBC Analyzer machine was held at THQ Chachro. The ceremony took place at the Hospital. AWARE representatives, THQ MS Dr. Lekhraj, Pathologist Dr. Farooq, and Dr. Mohan Das presided over the event.

Program Manager AWARE, Mr. Shewa Ram Suthar briefed the MS THQ Dr. Lekhraj and his team regarding the AWARE organization’s aim to address the community issues. He also orientated the participants about the project titled; “Fighting with poverty in drought-affected communities by improving education, health and promoting site-appropriate agriculture through the use of renewable energy” in 10 villages of Tharparkar District” with the support of Terre des homes.

The project is operational in two union councils i.e. UC Kantio & UC Chachro Rural of Taluka Chachro District Tharparkar.  He also gave brief details of another initiative undertaken by AWARE in the year 2013 Under the said initiative, AWARE provided an X-Ray Machine in kind to the THQ hospital Chachro. The X-Ray machine is giving services to the poor patients of the area, free of cost. Under the current project, TDH and AWARE have specially joined hands to add value to the laboratory set up in THQ where the poor patients of adjoining deprived areas as well as the deserving people of the project area are now receiving laboratory services free of cost now. CBC Analyzer Machine is an automated system designed for efficient counting of the red blood cells, leukocytes, Hepatitis, and platelets in blood samples. Apart from simply counting and analyzing the cells, it also can detect the hemoglobin and hematocrit levels. This machine is a valuable addition to taluka hospital Chachro.

Dr. Farooque – the pathologist at the THQ hospital said: “The new CBC analyzer is a great value addition. We had one CBC testing machine which was not only outdated but also required repairing every now and then. There are times when it shuts since it can’t take the load.”  Dr. Farooque added: “I laud the efforts of the AWARE management that a latest advanced CBC machine with agents is urgently arranged and provided to serve the community. Indeed it was an urgent need of the hospital. Now poor patients have access to free-of-cost blood tests. This is really great!”

Dr. Farooque is also providing his technical advice and services to run the CBC analyzer properly and Mr. Partab Rai Lab technician will conduct all the tests and will report to Hospital management as well as to AWARE on monthly basis.

AWARE Team thanked THQ MS. Dr. Lekhraj and Dr. Farooque to assist AWARE in catering to one of the most urgent needs of the poor people who cannot afford to pay for the blood tests. Our profound thanks to the District Health Officer Mr.Gordhan Das. Collaborating with the government departments always remains AWARE’s priority.  We are indeed proud to address an urgent need of the hospital to serve the deserving communities in a befitting way. The project team will keep a record of the patients. The patients belonging to the project area and the surrounding deserving areas will be listed.” He also added; “The technician will keep a separate record of AWARE project area’s patients which will be referred by the AWARE project team.”

The community has already given a tremendous response to this initiative. The poor patients who cannot afford blood tests are now having this facility free of cost.
