The National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) in collaboration with National Database And Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a digital app to verify vaccination certificates issued to the people after their vaccination.

The step has been taken after cases of fake certificates were reported in the media.

The citizens can now verify the authenticity of their vaccination certificates using the “Vaccination Pass App,” a digital wallet for COVID-19 certificates, according to the NCOC.

Positivity rate drops at 6.8 per cent

Pakistan on Sunday reported 67 casualties in the last 24 hours. According to the NCOC, the positivity rate in the country dropped to 6.8 per cent from 8.09 per cent a day earlier.

Against 54,211 tests in the last one day, 3,711 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, the NCOC data further reveals. Besides, the number of active cases has climbed to 87,209, it further said.

Pakistan’s recoveries from COVID-19 received a boost on Sunday when 3,041 people were reported recovered from the virus. The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 reached 986,795 on Sunday.

Islamabad closes Faisal Mosque, tourist points in Margalla Hills

After recording the highest number of COVID-19 cases in one day, 571, since April 23 this year, the Islamabad administration closed down the Faisal Mosque and the road leading to the Pir Sohawa and Monal, three popular tourist points of Islamabad.

According to the district administration these points were closed for traffic to check the spread of COVID-19 which is already on the rise in the capital city.

Independence Day festivities continue in Islamabad

The residents of Islamabad and the neighbouring Rawalpindi are in a festive mood due to successive days of rain.

Moreover, Independence Day celebrations have also contributed to people heading towards Islamabad’s scenic destinations.

Families, tourists, particularly youngsters remained on roads on August 13 and August 14, playing music and dancing.

The Islamabad administration as per tradition did not interfere with these merry makers and remained silent-spectators.

However, after the number of cases increased in the city, the administration closed some of the roads to prevent the spread of the virus.

Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat wrote in a tweet, “Road leading to Monal, Pir Sohawa is being closed for traffic. Everyone is requested to plz cancel their plans for today. Order is being issued to prevent covid spread.”
