Water of 29 major cities of the country is highly Contaminated, this may cause fatal disease including Cancer. Ministry of Science and Technology discloses the alarming situation of Underground Water in the Country.

The government has recently tested water in almost 29 Major Cities of Pakistan. They have found traces of arsenic and other compounds in it. But these toxic elements contributes to sever symptoms and diseases; such as Cancer and also Skin Damage. Ministry recently informs in National Assembly.

National Assembly Report

On Government level, it unveiled in a written response to the National Assembly. The Minister for Science and Technology Senator Shibli Faraz also clarifies questions in response to Senator Mussarat Rafiq Mahesar. Further, he reports that highly contaminated water is consisting Arsenic, Iron, and various fluoride and Skin damaging bacteria. The submitted documents reports after research.

The NA enlightens that in accordance to the analysis reports of underground water samples. Which provides by Pakistan Council of Research of Water Resou­rces (PSCRWR), an institution of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The reports says Highly Contaminated Water of 29 Major cities of the country comprising of contaminates, is toxic and unhealthy. And Almost, the water of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mirpurkhas Shaheed Benazirabad is completely 100% unsafe.

Few other cities include contamination of underground water.  According to the Pakistan Council of Research of Water Resources report Karachi includes 93%, Multan has 94%, Bahawalpur 76%, Badin 92%, Sargodha 83%, Hyderabad 80%, Muzaffarabad 70% and Sukkur has least percentage of 67.

Moreover, the lower House informs that Punjab and KPK provinces have performed tireless efforts on the issue of drinking water. Further, all provinces should pass effective laws on the problem of drinking water.

According various Reports by News Channels, when Minister of Science and Technology requested for elaboration on what paths the government had already taken for safe drinking from high contaminates water to the nationals. The Senator informed water is basically a matter of provinces after 18th Amendment in Constitution of Pakistan.

Finally, Shibli Faraz says the duty of his ministry, was only to carry out tests of water via PCRWR. He informs the periodic water quality monitoring reports of the PCRWR is now published ; and shared to the provinces and local body of government. At last, these decisions are for undertaking improvement measures at their end.
