World Conference on Clean Energy, “New Energy Equipment Makes a New Era” is the theme of this world-class conference. The event aims to find ways to tackle global warming and achieve carbon neutrality and the participants say international cooperation could be one of them. PALITHA KOHONA Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China “Sri Lanka is an ideal spot for solar energy development and also wind energy development. China can be a big help as we transition into clean energy. We would be able to address a huge part of our energy crisis by relying on renewable energy.” The conference also highlights large-scale electrification and the development of renewable energy as global trends. GUO TIANQI Deyang, Sichuan Province “Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, many countries have been paying more attention to energy security and transition, so, clean energy equipment can have an important role in the global economic recovery.” China has the largest hydropower resources and capacity in the world. Located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Sichuan Province is the largest clean energy base in the country, and the city of Deyang has a long history of heavy industry and clean energy equipment manufacturing.

World Conference on Clean Energy, WANG JUN Chairman, Dongfang Electric Machinery, Dongfang Electric Corporation “After more than 60 years of development, our company can produce equipment for the production of hydropower, nuclear, wind, solar and other forms of clean energy. Since the 1980s, we have been exporting clean energy equipment and the total installed capacity globally has been more than 80 million kilowatt hours.” China’s rich experience in hydroelectric power has made Chinese equipment popular among foreign companies. The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which is under construction on Tanzania’s largest river, is using nine units of hydropower generators made by Dongfang Electric Corporation. MATHEW BUNDALA Project Manager, Tanzania Electric Supply Company “We are satisfied very much satisfied. Because the quality is good and the we expect to receive the component as power equipment. It means a lot to the economy of our country, yeah, since we need this power for generation for our country to stabilize our electricity and also for the industrialization in our country.” Although it’s cheap, hydropower is quite vulnerable to impacts of climate change. The conference is also holding an exhibition of energy storage technologies,
