Innovation Ranking Of Pakistan Shows Significant Progress In GII

Pakistan has risen to the top 90 of a global innovation ranking of the most innovative countries, surpassing many Central and South Asian countries. According to the most recent Global Innovation Index (GII), Pakistan has made significant progress in the innovation rankings.

Innovation ranking of Pakistan in the 2022 index rose from 133rd in 2012 to breaking into the top 90 in 2022. With Uzbekistan, it leads the Central and Southern Asia region.

Pakistan was ranked 87th in the ranking of Global Innovation Index (GII), and it was also named an Innovation Achiever for the first time in the ranking’s history. The ranking demonstrated the country’s growing innovative capabilities.

Pakistan’s improvement in the GII innovation rankings is most likely due to various policies and initiatives implemented by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other collaborating agencies.

These initiatives most likely recognised the significance of encouraging innovative activities within Pakistani higher education institutions (HEIs). Switzerland topped the index for the 12th time in a row, followed by Sweden, the US, the Netherlands, and the UK, who rounded out the top five.

Switzerland topped the list for the eighth year in a row, with a score of 64.6, thanks to strong performance in a variety of areas such as research and development, knowledge-intensive employment, and creative output. A number of world-renowned institutions, including the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, contribute to the country’s strong research and development capabilities.

The United States finished second with a score of 61.8, thanks to strong performances in the areas of business sophistication and knowledge creation. The country is known for its strong venture capital scene and is home to a number of innovative companies, including Apple, Google, and Amazon.

Sweden finished third with a score of 61.6, thanks to strong performances in research and development, technological readiness, and market sophistication. The country is widely known for its welcoming environment for startups and entrepreneurs, and it is home to a number of cutting-edge companies such as Spotify and Skype.

With scores of 58.0 and 59.7, respectively, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom round out the top five, with strong showings in creative output, business sophistication, and knowledge creation.

Both countries are home to a number of innovative businesses and have welcoming environments for entrepreneurs and startups. Overall, the GII rankings show that the most innovative countries are those that invest in R&D, encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, and have strong institutions and infrastructure.

These factors foster the growth of businesses and individuals, resulting in a virtuous cycle of innovation and economic growth.
