IMI's Initiative Aims to Provide Affordable Healthcare in Pakistan

Imamia Medics International (IMI) envisions the University Medical Complex (UMC) as a Center of Excellence in Specialized Healthcare in Pakistan, providing affordable healthcare to all communities regardless of faith, race, or ethnicity, all while serving humanity and saving lives.

The impressive ground-breaking ceremony of the University Medical Complex (UMC) was held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the project site in Gulistan-e-Johar Karachi, which was attended by various dignitaries, including esteemed religious scholars Maulana Syed Shehenshah Hussain Naqvi and Maulana Syed Razi Jafar, the Honorable Minister for Foreign Investment, and IMI doctors and volunteers.

The honorees laid foundation bricks and expressed their financial and moral support for this cutting-edge project that will be a source of pride for the entire community.

Imamia Medics International (IMI) is launching a 500-bed state-of-the-art Multi-speciality Medical Health Facility in Karachi, in collaboration with two reputable non-profits in Pakistan to improve affordable access to quality healthcare in the country: Baqir Health and Educational Welfare Trust (BET) and the Zaidi Abid Foundation USA (ZAF). The Zaidi Abid Foundation has donated the project’s land.

The “Zaidi Abid Foundation” (ZAF) has been providing incredible support and resources for the last 30 years, including two large plots of prime land for the hospital in Gulistan-e-Johar.

Baqar Health and Education Welfare Trust (BET) has been working for the last 20 years and has been unwavering in its support for this noble cause of an affordable hospital.

The Sindh Construction Authority has also given its approval. Construction will begin on a 5000-square-yard plot first. 70% of the profits will be reinvested in the facilities. Consulting firms from Pakistan have also been hired. International faculty from Canada, Pakistan, the United States, and the United Kingdom are also on board.

Through an integrated clinical ecosystem of professional excellence, clinical education, innovation, and research, the University Medical Complex aims to provide high quality, affordable, equitable, and specialised healthcare.

The total cost of the project is $33 million, with the first phase requiring $4 million. So far, $400,000 has been pledged, with more than $167,000 raised. Your help is urgently needed to make this much-needed project a reality.
