The two-day 2nd Pakistan Food and Nutrition International Summit and Expo, focused on “Pakistan’s Needs for Food and Nutritional Security,” was held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre by Riphah International University in collaboration with the National Alliance for Safe Food (NASF), according to a press release.

The conference’s goal was to highlight the issues and challenges for Pakistan’s Food-Nutrition, as well as to make plausible recommendations for national sustainability. The 2nd Pakistan Food-Nutrition International Summit and Expo 2022 focused on issues and solutions concerning food, nutrition, food production, and the healthcare industry.

Rana Muhammad Awais Khan, chairman of NASF, provided an overview of the conference, which was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, vice chancellor of Riphah International University, and Dr. Rashid Aftab, director of the Riphah Institute of Public Policy.

The chief guest, the Minister of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives for the Government of Pakistan, shared his thoughts on recent food-related issues.

He also stated that this conference is critical in terms of socioeconomic scenarios and that the government will fully support the initiatives taken at this conference. The minister thanked NASF, Riphah International University, PPE, and all other collaborators for organising this important international conference.

Speakers from various universities and corporate institutes, including PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Awabi Women University, Riphah International University, the National Alliance for Sea Food, and Chugtai Lab, took part in the various sessions and shared their research and perspectives.

Speakers provided various informative stances as part of the solution and stated that there is a strong need to take a holistic approach because SDG-2 (zero hunger) and SDG-3 (good health and well-being) are interlinked, leading to healthier, happier, and more productive human capital.

Food and nutrition summits and expos may offer a variety of activities, such as keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and demonstrations. They may also provide opportunities for networking and collaboration among attendees, who may include researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and others interested in food and nutrition.

The goal of these events is often to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge, and to advance the understanding of issues related to food and nutrition and their impact on human health and well-being.
