HEC Announces 75 National Top Talent Scholarships Programmes

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the availability of 75 National Top Talent Scholarships for Pakistani students seeking admission to MS and PhD programmes abroad.

According to official sources, the Government of Pakistan announced 40 PhD and 35 MS scholarships for Pakistani and Azad Kashmir nationals to study at the world’s 25 top-ranked universities (QS or Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings only) on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s 75th Independence Anniversary.

According to sources, Top Talent Scholarships will be awarded only upon proof of confirmed admission to desired universities and selected subjects. Meanwhile, the applicant must be a Pakistani or Azad Kashmiri national, according to the eligibility criteria. Candidates must be accepted or enrolled in one of the world’s 25 top-ranked universities (QS or THE) in the subjects of their choice.

For MS Scholarships, they must have a minimum qualification of BS, BE, or Master’s equivalent to 16 years of education in relevant fields of study, while for PhD Scholarships, they must have a minimum qualification of MS, MPhil, ME, or equivalent to 18 years of education in relevant fields of study. It added that students could only have one second division during their academic career before receiving their final degree.

Candidates for the terminal degree must have a CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and 3.75 out of 5.0 in the semester system or 1 division (in the annual system). The maximum age on the closing date should be 40 years for full-time regular faculty members of public sector universities and degree-awarding institutions and colleges, and 35 years for all others.

Candidates must not be receiving any other type of scholarship. Applicants must submit an online application through the HEC e-portal.

It is important to note that scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To gain admission, candidates must meet the requirements of the host university, which may include the international GRE, TOEFL, and other tests.

They are encouraged to take these tests. Conditional admission or enrollment will be rejected. The application process will be terminated if any information is found to be misrepresented or incorrect at any stage.

The awardee will be required to sign a bond with HEC to serve for three years (for MS scholarships) or five years (for PhD scholarships) immediately following the completion of his or her studies.
