NASTP Plans To Develop Technology Ecosystem To Grow Private Sector

A network of commercial entities that are interdependent and related to one another and are intended to sustainably promote innovation is known as a “technology ecosystem.”

Companies co-evolve their skills in response to fresh developments in commercial ecosystems. They innovate, support new products, meet industry demands, and develop new technologies in a cooperative and competitive environment. That is the focus of NASTP.

During the international conference “Global Strategic Threat & Response 2022,” which was organised by the Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, the Chief of the Air Staff, made an official announcement about the launch of NASTP.

In his remarks, he stressed how the formation of NASTP would help close the gap between academia, business, and government.

Given its growing emphasis on cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, cyberspace, information technology, etc., it is without a doubt a revolutionary endeavour by the nation’s Air Force that is second to none.

NASTP’s Chief Executive Officer and Director, Air Commodore Liaquat Ullah Iqbal, provided a thorough introduction to the organisation to the audience during the session on “Aerospace Security: Determinants and Future Prospects.”

He argued that the aerospace industry could have a positive impact on the country’s economic potential and could spark the most important sector of society—academics, intellectuals, and think tanks. NASTP was established with the intention of developing into a significant global aerospace cluster and includes design, R&D, and innovation centres.

NASTP intends to create a technology ecosystem through partnerships, joint ventures, and linkages in order to maximise value for the nation’s institutions, industries and people.

The primary objective is public sector-led private sector growth to make the aerospace, cyber, and IT industries the nation’s engine of growth. Through its technology parks, it would support start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) while cultivating connections to advance the nation’s private sector.

Closing the gap between consumers, products, technologies, and markets is the objective of successful technology echo systems. The government, businesses, and academics must fully commit to the ecosystem in order to develop, test, build, operationalize, and ultimately expand the product to foreign markets.

Since such massive enterprises require ongoing work, the path is not straightforward. In developing nations, initiatives are frequently started, but they frequently fail to produce the desired results because of a lack of funding, motivation, and support.

Fortunately, NASTP has the support of both the government and the PAF, who understand the importance of such initiatives in maintaining Pakistan’s national security.

The world has advanced significantly in technological advancement; as a result, support from the public, academia, think tanks, and industry is essential right now for such initiatives if they are to keep up with this quick pace.
