USEFP Invites Pakistani Students To apply For Fulbright Program

The US Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) invites Pakistanis to apply for the prestigious Fulbright Student Program in 2024. The Fulbright Scholarship Program in Pakistan, funded by the US government, is the world’s largest in terms of financial contribution.

The highly competitive and merit-based scholarship covers graduate school expenses such as tuition, room and board, insurance, and air travel. The application can be found at www.usefp.org and has a deadline of April 12, 2023. USEFP accepts applications from all fields, including energy, water, agriculture, health, education, environmental science, and climate change.

While clinical medicine is not included in the Fulbright Program, applications in non-clinical public health are encouraged. All applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). A minimum score of 145 is required in the verbal and quantitative sections of the exam under the new scoring system.

“The Fulbright Program is the United States’ premier academic exchange programme, connecting people and nations and fostering mutual understanding since 1946,” said Will Ostick, Country Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy.

The US Mission in Pakistan is proud to support one of the world’s largest academic exchange programmes, and we look forward to meeting this year’s distinguished academic exchange candidates.

For the academic year 2023, USEFP received 1,157 applications and selected 217 Pakistanis for the Fulbright Program, a record number. We are pleased to report that 60% of these grantees are women.

Over the last two decades, these scholarships have been awarded to 2,568 Pakistanis to study, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to the resolution of shared international concerns. USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar encourages talented students and working professionals to learn more about the program in a message to potential applicants.

Graduate programs in the United States are among the best in the world. Anyone who is academically ambitious and wants to work for Pakistan’s social and economic development should apply.

Fulbright is a merit-based program, but merit includes both hopes and plans for the future as well as past achievements. As a result, people with big dreams but few opportunities should not give up. The United States and Pakistan established the USEFP in 1950.
