The management of Sindh University (SU) has decided to establish a software house in order to begin various productions and begin IT-related skill development courses in order to provide immediate employment to the youth on the internet in the spirit of community service.

The decision was made at a crucial meeting of computer, software, and IT expert teachers presided over by Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro.

On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Wazir Ali Baloch, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology Professor Dr. Khalilur Rehman Khoumbhati, and PhD holders in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Information Technology were present.

It was stated during the meeting that, given the current challenges and testing times, it was imperative to increase the university’s financial resources by launching various projects so that the university could benefit in the future.

The VC stated that there was no shortage of highly qualified and trained individuals at Sindh University; with their assistance, a large sum of money could be earned by establishing a software house, as he stated that the field of information technology was vast in terms of earning potential.

He stated that two more PhD teachers will be added to the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) to pursue various projects from Sindh and the federal HEC.

He stated that proposals should be submitted to the Higher Education Commission and the Sindh government in order to obtain more projects, and that students in their third and final years should be included in the projects.

Dr. Kalhoro stated that the proposed software house will be overseen by Sindh University’s Technology Incubation Center.

It was decided at the meeting that there would be another follow-up meeting in 15 days to make progress on the establishment of a software house and the initiation of skill development courses.
