Pakistan To Induct 14,000MW Clean Energy To Supply Low Cost Electricity

Anhui Winall Hi-Tech Seed Co., Ltd.’s annual supply of fine varieties has exceeded 4,000 tons in Pakistan, accounting for 40% of the local hybrid rice seed market.

The latest batch of 200 tons of hybrid rice seeds is on its way to Pakistan, with high-yielding, high-temperature-resistant and stress-resistant hybrid rice varieties as the top priority for promotion.

None of the other challenges, such as high temperatures, drought, salinity, pests, or diseases, can prevent hybrid rice seed from flourishing here. In general, we always plan ahead for seed shipments.

From November of last year to April of this year, our seeds were delivered on schedule. Practitioners from China and Pakistan have worked closely together to develop crops that can adapt to the local climate and maintain a stable yield in order to meet the breeding challenge.

“Rainfall in Pakistan is primarily experienced from July to September, and a sizable portion of the nation receives less than 150 mm of precipitation annually. As a result, there is an urgent need for rice varieties that can withstand high temperatures and drought.”

“Pests and diseases brought on by an unstable climate pose significant challenges to agriculture as the effects of global climate change become more and more severe. We have tested and screened improved varieties over an extended period of time, as well as trained partners in supporting technology, with positive results,” said Chu.

It has been discovered that Sindh province, along with a small portion of Punjab province, are where Winall hybrid rice is primarily grown. The yield per mu is nice because it typically ranges from 650 to 800 kg (9750 to 12000 kg per hectare).

Jiang Sanqiao, Vice GM of Winall Group, emphasised that “in 2021, we exported more than 4,500 tonnes of hybrid rice seeds to Pakistan, and the highest-yielding variety increase the yield by about 30% compared with local varieties.”

Winall and Huazhong Agricultural University of China have collaborated to establish the International Cooperation Class since 2019, developing the Belt and Road Initiative’s plan for agricultural cooperation while training agricultural talent in Pakistan and other nations for three years in a row.

There is a lot of potential for agricultural cooperation along the BRI because we are committed to developing more high-yielding varieties through the collection, identification, and application of foreign germplasm resources.

Widely praised hybrid rice has improved Pakistan’s food security, eradicated poverty, and even generated foreign exchange. With a total export of more than USD 2 billion each year, rice is the largest agricultural export in Pakistan, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

“Next, we will engage in more extensive agricultural cooperation across the board. In order to encourage agricultural enterprises in a variety of fields in Anhui Province to conduct business in Pakistan, Anhui Province and Pakistan jointly established the Agricultural International Cooperation Alliance in August last year,” according to Chu.
