A contract encouraging university-industry collaboration was signed on Thursday by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad.

The Director of Administration and Finance and the Manager of the Digital Transformation Cell visited the University at the Director General KPCTA’s request.

The KPCTA and NUST will work together on various cultural and tourism promotion activities, research projects, and training programmes in order to promote university-industry collaboration.

The provincial government is firmly devoted to the promotion of culture and tourism as an established industry within their jurisdiction.

In order to do this, they want to build bridges between academia and business, close any gaps in the market, expose new talent to opportunities, and ultimately improve job prospects.

Khurshid Alam, Director of Administration and Finance at KPCTA, emphasised the Authority’s dedication to promoting tourism in the province and provided an overview of the ongoing initiatives, which include the creation of Integrated Tourism Zones, the establishment of a tourism police force, and a round-the-clock helpline for travellers.

Director Khurshid Alam praised NUST’s initiatives in technology, digitalization, and tourism research and expressed optimism that the collaboration would produce real advantages.

The signatures of Associate Dean (SEECS) Dr. Dr. Faisal Shafait, Head of the Department of Research (NBS) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sabir, and Director CTA Khurshid Alam were properly affixed to the papers.

Senior professor Dr. Hassan Ali Khattak, an associate professor in NUST’s department of computer science, graced the occasion.

Senior academic staff members who were present at the time emphasised the potential for research collaboration and pledged their full support by providing technology-based solutions with a focus on tourism, hospitality, and culture.

A public research university with multiple campuses, the National University of Sciences & Technology has its main campus in Islamabad, Pakistan. The university grants professional and doctoral degrees in addition to undergraduate and graduate degrees.
