Earth Day 2023 Raises Consciousness To Take Climate Action: Dr. Roselid
The Federal Minister for Climate Change, urged Pakistanis to do their part to protect the planet. The minister tweeted, “The crisis-ridden state of our planet is a global emergency that requires urgent action.”

In order to protect the planet, she stressed the importance of prioritising investments in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, the elimination of plastic, climate-friendly lifestyles, and forests.

She claimed that indiscriminate use of land resources was to blame for pollution and other environmental issues. Let’s pledge to stop climate change and rebuild our ecosystems on this Earth Day. “You cannot choose to do nothing.”

“There is no Planet B, so let’s work to create a more sustainable economy that benefits both people and our planet,” she said.

Every year on April 22, there is an event called Earth Day to show support for environmental preservation. It was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, and today, 1 billion people in more than 193 countries participate in a variety of events that are coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG (formerly Earth Day Network). Invest In Our Planet is the designated theme for 2023.

Peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honour the Earth and the idea of peace in 1969 at a UNESCO conference in San Francisco.

The day would first be observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. A proclamation from the United Nations signed by Secretary General U Thant and written by McConnell later recognised this day of natural equilibrium.

To defend the planet against things like pollution and deforestation, more than a billion people participate in Earth Day celebrations.

The United States was the primary focus of the first Earth Day. Denis Hayes, the first national coordinator in 1970, expanded it internationally in 1990 and planned events in 141 countries.

The historic Paris Agreement was signed on April 22, 2016, by the US, the UK, China, and 120 other nations. This signing fulfilled a crucial condition for the historic draught climate protection treaty’s entry into force, which was adopted by consensus of the 195 nations in attendance at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
