Govt Considering Strategy To Cope Power Shortage Issue In Summer

More than 50 energy companies from China and the United States gathered on Sunday for a forum on the eve of the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) to discuss ways to expand their opportunities for collaboration as global unrest shakes the sector.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner welcomed Chinese energy entrepreneurs to the U.S. energy capital and to join the OTC, a significant forum on ocean energy technology, in his remarks at the 9th “China-US Energy Enterprise Cooperation Forum.”

According to Turner, collaboration and idea sharing among energy companies will advance the energy transition together and thereby benefit the entire world. “We recognise the importance of working together, Utilisation Centre and by working together, we all win and benefit,” Turner said.

“It is crucial that we figure out how to keep moving forward as a team. If not, we all lose ” he said. The China Petroleum & Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association’s chief expert, Zou Lianyang, stated that his group will endeavour to assist its members in the future in “finding bigger markets and more business opportunities” through win-win collaboration.

The COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine crisis, and the difficult challenges of ongoing global warming are causing severe turbulence and significant changes in the energy industry, making it more important to foster cooperation, said Zhang Xinsheng, a former executive chairman of Shell Companies in China, at the forum.

“Cooperation should be an inherent strong gene in the energy industry,” Zhang said, noting that given the extra long value chain, wide-ranging specialties, huge investment, and big risks in the industry, no energy company in the world can be strong enough to not need partners.

Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference provides a platform for energy professionals to exchange thoughts to advance scientific and technical knowledge on offshore resources and environmental matters. This year, the conference runs from Monday until Thursday.
