The Philippines, which has continued to be the most dominant nation in Mobile Legends, won the Men’s MLBB gold medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games Esports (SEA) competition with a 3-0 victory over Malaysia on Sunday (14 May).

Players from Bren Esports, including David “FlapTzy” Canon, Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson, Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, Marco “SUPER MARCO” Requitano, and Vincent “Pandora,” represented the Philippines in this year’s Men’s MLBB.

The Malaysian team, meanwhile, was made up of players from various teams, including Idreen “Momo” Jamal, Muhammad “CikuGais” Fuad, and Muhammad “Xorn” Noor from Red Giants Esports, as well as Muhammad “Chibi” Nor from Homebois, Mohammad “Izanami” Lim from RSG Slate MY, and Muhammad “Xorn” Noor from Red Giants Esports.

The Philippines and Malaysia won the first round of the playoffs, setting up a second match for the gold medal.

After losing to Malaysia in the group stage, Team Philippines quickly exacted revenge by outlasting them in back-to-back 20+ minute marathons to take a 2-0 series lead. They then completed the 3-0 sweep in a 10-minute stomp with momentum on their side.

The Philippines won five medals in the 2023 SEA Games Esports competition, including gold in Men’s MLBB, League of Legends: Wild Rift, one silver for Women’s MLBB, and two bronzes for VALORANT and Crossfire.

KyleTzy and SUPER MARCO received game MVP awards in games one and two. In Men’s MLBB, the Philippines has won three consecutive gold medals, dating back to 2019.

A mixed team of athletes from various teams won the inaugural competition, and the Philippines won their second gold medal at the SEA Games in Hanoi in 2022.

After defeating ONIC Philippines at the M3 World Championship in December 2021, Blacklist International, the current MLBB world champions, took home the gold. Since ECHO defeated Blacklist International in the M4 World Championship in January, the current champion is also a Filipino team.

To maintain their hegemony over MLBB at home, the Filipinos will compete in the M5 World Championship in December.
