Nadra launches online CNIC renewal system

In order to obtain services for the establishment of a command centre and a central management information system under the flagship Health Card program, the Balochistan government has signed an agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

In the presence of the Director General of Health for Balochistan and the CEO of Federal Health Insurance, the agreement was signed here on Sunday by Asadullah Kakar, CEO of the Balochistan Health Card Program, and Gohar Khan, CEO of NADRA.

The agreement stated that NADRA would offer data verification and related services to the programme, according to Chief Projects Gohar Khan.

He claimed that NADRA would contribute to the creation of a thorough Management Information System (MIS), linking the NADRA database to all hospitals included in the panel. Baloch citizens will have access to free medical care under the much-touted Balochistan Health Card programme, which is expected to be implemented soon.

To provide health insurance benefits totaling Rs 1 million to 1.875 million families, the provincial government had decided to launch the Balochistan Health Card facility at a cost of Rs 5.914 billion. The Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), according to the program, will be regarded as the province’s permanent resident’s health card.

The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) is a separate, autonomous organisation that reports to Pakistan’s Interior Secretary and is in charge of managing the country’s sensitive national registration database.

As chairman of NADRA Pakistan, Tariq Malik is in charge of issuing computerised national identity cards to Pakistani citizens, updating their sensitive information in government databases, and protecting national identities from theft.

One of the biggest government database organisations, NADRA employs over 11,000 people across 800 domestic locations and five overseas locations.

The Second Amendment, Article 30 of the Pakistani Constitution, which was codified in 2000, gave NADRA the authority to create sensitive databases of Pakistani citizens’ personal information and civil registration records.
