A virtual event called “vivo 5G Talk” was organised by the top consumer technology brand. The conference brought together business leaders from Pakistan and Nepal to discuss the current state of 5G technology in the region and its potential to transform industries and raise living standards. The event aimed to spark discussions about improved connectivity in South Asia.

The event was broadcast live over a conference call between representatives from the two countries’ 5G industries. Through positive dialogue, the “vivo 5G Talk” initiative seeks to advance the development of telecommunications technology.

The talk, with the title “Bringing you a Boundless, Intelligent World,” examined various facets of the complex telecommunications ecosystem and offered a comprehensive and coherent platform for cross-sector engagement.

The panel included eminent experts on the subject, such as Parvez Iftikhar, International Consultant on ICT Policy and Regulation; Khalid Khan, Founder and Chairman of Central Asian Cellular Forum; Asif Aziz, Chief Business Officer at Jazz, Pakistan; Niraj Bhusal, Non-Gazetted I, Ministry of Finance, Nepal; Muhammad Adeel Israr, Chief Technology and Enterprise Business Officer of NCELL Axiata, Nepal, and Lead CTO, Group Operations at Axiata; and Minu Pradhan, Director at Nepal Telecom.

Positive discussions about the potential uses of 5G technology in developing nations like Pakistan characterised this exciting event.

By providing innovative and workable solutions to pressing societal challenges like remote healthcare and education, agriculture, and disaster recovery, 5G can truly be a game-changer. It can also lead to the establishment of new business models that could significantly boost the GDP of developing economies.

The experts emphasised the significance of developing an ecosystem that promotes innovation, knowledge sharing, and entrepreneurship through the development of necessary infrastructure and efficient regulatory policies in keeping with the theme of creating “a boundless, intelligent world,” particularly to combat key challenges associated with 5G rollout, such as geographical barriers and spectrum affordability.

In order to maximise the true effectiveness of 5G in these regions, they also highlighted the crucial need for collaboration between the public and private sectors in South Asian economies that are still in development.

Rakesh Tamrakar, a prominent expert at the vivo Communications Research Institute and a renowned industry authority with a distinguished career in the telecommunications industry, graced the occasion with his presence.

During the panel, he offered his opinions and acknowledged that while Asia has seen significant growth, it has yet to fully experience the advantages of the deployment of 5G.

His words exemplified vivo’s dedication to advancing the 5G revolution and enabling local communities to prosper in the brand-new digital environment.
