International Summit Held To Address Significant Concerns of HEIs

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has given the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi permission to start a Master of Science (MS) program in Journalism and General Psychology.

Sanaullah Memon, the deputy director of HEC’s Quality Assurance Division (QAD), sent a letter to the IBA Karachi registrar confirming the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) for these programmes.

The letter states that the MS Journalism programme has two Ph.D. instructors, Assistant Professors Amir Hamza Marwan and Shehram Mukhtar, and the MS General Psychology programme has three, Assistant Professors Ayesha Zia, Sehar Nadeem, and Saima Saif.

The letter requests that IBA abide by the HEC regulations for MS, MPhil, Ph.D., and related programmes. These rules include adhering to the HEC’s announced minimum requirements for faculty, programme length, credit hours, and semester guidelines.

During its visit to IBA, the Postgraduate Program Review Committee will keep an eye on these variables. The institute is required to notify HEC of any faculty changes so that the NOC status in the database is updated appropriately.

IBA’s MS Journalism program had previously been suspended because there weren’t enough Ph.D. instructors. IBA has now started accepting applications for the MS Journalism programme, and they will be accepted through July 7th.

The Institute of Public and Business Administration (IPBA), one of the oldest business schools outside of North America, was founded in 1955. The renowned Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania provided the initial technical support.

Soon after, a number of illustrious American professors were appointed to the IBA and various facilities from the University of Southern California were installed at the Institute.

Reputable academics from these two institutions provided the direction for the development of the course materials, the curriculum, the pedagogical tools, and the methods for testing and assessment. While evolving and modifying them over time, IBA has zealously protected the high standards and academic traditions it inherited from Wharton and USC.
