STAFF REPORT ISB: The five-day sixth International Scientific Spring (ISS) has recently been organized at the National Centre for Physics (NCP) with the aim to promote strong interaction between local and foreign scientists and researchers.


The event was organized in collaboration with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, with Prof J. Niemela of ICTP and Dr. Hamid Saleem as directors of the activity.


Over 25 foreign scientists and researchers from different universities of Algeria, China, Czech Republic, Italy, Russia, Iraq, Indonesia, Jordan, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Sweden, Switzerland, Philippines, USA and Turkey participated and presented their research papers.


The event focused on the core areas of physics and its related fields like Synchrotron Radiations, Earth Systems, Nanosciences and Plasma Physics.


Dr. Hamid Saleem, DG, NCP, said that the NCP is very thankful to ICTP and its Director Prof, Fernando Quevedo for its allout support in organizing this important scientific activity in Pakistan.


Dr. Joseph Niemela from ICTP while representing the ICTP said that the ICTP is proud to be associated with ISS-2014 as ICTP and NCP has very close relations.


He said that ICTP is playing its active role in promotion of science throughout the world for the last five decades and at this point we should not forget the contributions of Dr. Abdus Salam in establishment of ICTP, Trieste, Italy.
