STAFF REPORT IBD: Pakistan and Argentina have come closer to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of sanitary and phyto-sanitary to promote the agriculture sectors for ensuring maximum food security.


This was stated by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan while talking to Ambassador of Argentina Rudolph J. Martin Saravia who has recently called on him in Islamabad.


The minister appreciated Argentinas technical and research assistance in ensuring food security and enhancing agricultural productivity in the country. He also evaluated sArgentinas efforts in facilitating of export mangos and citrus from Pakistan to Argentina while both sides also agreed for exploring future collaboration in various areas.


Pakistan has a large capacity to design and manufacture the seed processing plants and small agricultural equipments of various models which can be exported to Argentina, he added


In his remarks on the occasion, the Ambassador said that Pakistan has a great potential in meat export and his country is willing to assist Pakistan in establishing modern meat processing units.


He further said that his country will also initiate a programme for exchange of agriculture production technologies for crops like sunflower, linseed and fruits.
