STAFF REPORT KHI: International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Pakistan and Climate Change Division, government of Pakistan, have recently signed an agreement for stimulating market demand for Biodiversity friendly products in Northern Pakistan.


A press statement issued here stated that the agreement was signed during GEF Global Environmental Facility Steering Committee meeting, in which representatives from all provinces and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) were also present.


“Under this agreement, activities will focus on stimulating market demand for biodiversity friendly products and to enhance institutional capacities to scale up Biodiversity and Business in Northern Pakistan over a period of four years under a GEF/UNDP funded project titled: Mountains and Markets,” the statement declared.


IUCN Pakistan Country Representative Mahmood Akhtar Cheema said that IUCN values its partnership with the Federal and Provincial Governments and signing of the agreement is a testimony of further strengthening this partnership.
