STAFF REPORT ISB: Work to develop infrastructure for the solar project in the Cholistan area is in full swing.

According to Radio Pakistan, three turbines have been installed along with the Ahmedpur Branch canal at a cost of Rs 80 million.

The overhead reservoir with a capacity of 10,000 water gallons and an underground storage tank with a capacity of 100,000 gallons of water will be completed by the end of this month.

With reference to the efficacy of the solar energy in Cholistan, he said that this area is the best for the solar energy option. A number of feasibility studies have already been done which suggest that Cholistan has the potential to generate solar energy in thousands of mega watts.

The govt is currently taking initiatives to explore all alternative energy sources to minimize the energy shortfall.
