STAFF REPORT KHI: United States Assistant for the Economic Development has said that various youth programmes have been launched under the USAID for enhancing their creation capacity, and skill and educational standards.

She said this during a meeting with Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan in Karachi during her recent visit to Pakistan.

Millions of people have so far benefitted from these programmes, she said adding that under USAID programme, a medical units has been set up at Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre. This unit is being run through female doctors and female staff which has become popular among the people.

She praised the Governors initiatives under which different faculties are interlinked and through youth help line they are provided guidance and information.

The government is successfully moving towards finding a permanent solution of the energy crisis in the country besides setting the national economy on the right track which has helped in restoring the confidence of the local and foreign investors, the governor said.

He also appreciated the steps taken by USAID for skill development among youth under the Karachi Youth Initiative.

He said the youth are asset and hope for the bright future of the country. Pakistan is amongst the few countries which have more than fifty percent youth population and this is a sign of stability and better future of a country.
