STAFF REPORT ISB: The mobile phone imports increased by 5.78 per cent to $166 million during the first three months of this fiscal year from $156.926m a year earlier, reveal fresh statistics of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On a month-on-month basis, the imports fell by 24 per cent to $50.839 million in September this year as compared to $66.8 million in August. The figure declined by 11pc in September 2014 compared to $57.1 million in the same month of last year.

The data further shows that the overall telecom imports increased by 31 per cent to $406.831 million during the July-September quarter from $310.523 million during the year-ago period.

The telecom imports during September 2014 were $127.601, a fall of 17.04 per cent compared to August 2014 $153.812 million and a rise of 25.54 per cent compared to September 2013 ($101.644 million).

On month on month basis the mobile phone imports into the country during the month of September 2014 decreased by 10.95 percent and 23.89 percent when compared to the imports in September 2013 and August 2014 respectively.
