Monitoring Desk: Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) was given the membership of Science Council of Asia (SCA) on the occasion of 15th SCA Conference which was held at Siem Reap, Kingdom of Cambodia this month.


Dr. Anwar Nasim, President of PAS participated in the conference. PAS has become a National Member of SCA and due to this, President of PAS, Dr. Anwar Nasim has become its Management Board Member. At present, the Management Board of SCA comprises of 19 National Members and current President of SCA is President, National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, Prof. Vijaya Kumar.


The SCA is an international scientific organization founded in 2000 by Asian science academies and other national scientific organizations. The SCA is governed by a Management Board consisting of one representative from each member country/region. SCA aims to provide scientists in all fields, including cultural and social as well as natural sciences and technology, a collaborative platform for promoting scientific exchange and cooperation in Asia. The inclusion of PAS as national member of SCA has significantly improved the standing and outreach of the organization and it will have greater impacts on its forthcoming programs and objectives.
