STAFF REPORT ISB: Japan government announced to provide financial assistance to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in order to support the organization in projects of agricultural development and food security in particular to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).


An agreement signing ceremony was held to consolidate the support. Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan signed the agreement with Patrick Evans, FAO representative in Pakistan. A grant agreement on the implementation of the project was signed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Mitsuyoshi Kawasaki and Evans immediately afterwards.


Federal Minister, Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSandR), Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan was also present on the occasion. He said, “Government of Pakistan and its allied departments will work in close coordination with FAO and JICA in order to access local communities in FATA and attain food security objectives”.
