STAFF REPORT KHI: Bahria University Karachi Campus has recently concluded the 1st National Conference on “Emerging Trends and Innovations in Computing and Technology” (NACTICT 16). The chief guest of the closing ceremony of conference was Rector Bahria University, Vice Admiral (Retd) Tanveer Faiz HI (M).


In his address, he said that they need to enhance such innovating platforms for encouraging our researchers and academicians so that they can learn and share their experiences at large.


Further, they can contribute their efforts and expertise at bigger forums. He further said that being the Rector Bahria University, it is incumbent upon me to promote research culture.


He also elaborated various initiatives in motivating faculty members and students to initiate research activities. These include providing funds and mentoring to the students of Final Year Projects so that they can put up good projects, and encouraging faculty members for higher studies at University expense.


Various national speakers spoke during plenary sessions. Dr. Syed Nasir Mehmood Shah, Head Department of Computer Science, KICSIT, Dr. Hammad Raza,


Assistant Prof. NUST, Dr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Associate Prof. Department of Computer Science Bahria University Islamabad Campus and Dr. Tariq Mehmood, Assistant Prof., PAF-KIET Karachi, Dr. Najam-ul-Islam, Dean Engineering Department, Bahria University were the key notes speakers at the conference.


Research papers were presented under the themes of Software Engineering, Autonomous Computing and Communication and Networking. The conference, a joint-venture between HEC and Bahria University, aimed at providing an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present their contributions.
