STAFF REPORT ISB: Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad (IST) has organized the fifth NASA International Space Apps Challenge in Pakistan.


IST is the proud sponsor and host of this International event and more than 20 teams from all over Pakistan participated in this event.


Space Apps Curator Shakeel Shafiq opened the session. The keynote remarks were delivered by the event head Dr. Najam Abbas, Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Qamar ul Islam.


NASA International Space Apps Challenge is an intense 48-hours global weekend code-a-thon for developers, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, astronomers and enthusiast to develop mobile applications, software, hardware, data visualization and platform solutions that could contribute to space exploration missions and help to improve life on Earth.


This year, many challenges represent NASA mission priorities in six areas include technology, aeronautics, space station, solar system, earth and journey to Mars.


The event brought together techy-savvy citizens, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and students to help solve problems and questions relevant to space exploration and broader subjects that impact life on Earth.


A competitive environment is created to boost the design skills of students as well as give them exposure to the innovative ideas.
