The Responsible Care Program has successfully received accreditation through Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) involving American Chemistry Council (ACC). The PCMA has implemented Responsible Care Program in Pakistan to join the local chemical industry with the global market.

Iqbal Kidwai, Secretary General and Chief Operating Officer of PCMA has said that accreditation authority of an American Standard is being entrusted to the government department of Pakistan is a breakthrough in the history of chemical industry according to him. With the consistent efforts of PCMA, Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has received authorization from ACC to authorize the global standards of the Responsible Care Program for local chemical units. Ministry of Science and Technology Mr. Fazal Abbass Maken, Director General PNAC Ismat Gul Khattak as a focal person PCMA has been informed in meeting about structuring the modalities.

“The detailed discussions with American Chemistry Council has led to meetings and training course schedule for the 1st week of October 2017 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates according to a decision made in follow up meeting between DG-PNAC, PCMA Chief Consultant Tahir J Qadir. Mr. Dan Roczniak, Representative of ACC will soon communicate for final dates within the few days”’ Kidwai said.

The three-party meeting among the American Chemistry Council, PCMA, and PNAC will be expected next month based on the discussions held between Mr. Tahir J. Qadir and Mr. Dan. The meeting would be happening for sanctioning formal MOUs regarding Responsible Care Accreditation services by PNAC in Pakistan.

ACC-approved American training providers in Dubai for Certification Bodies (CBs) along with PNAC accreditors will conduct training course to follow up the process.

PCMA stated their vote of thanks to the Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology Mr. Fazal Abbass Maken and DG, PNAC Ismat Gul Khattak for sincere and focused cooperation to move the proposals on the road to implementation.
