National Center for Nanoscience & Technology (NCNST), Chinese Academy of Sciences, “NANOTRIP-2017” at Beijing, China where 9 students from Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT) Preston University, Islamabad took part.

PINSAT’s students had unique source of pride of taking part in internationally commended conference on Nanotechnology “China Nano 2017”. They also had a chance to attend a one-day symposium from research students of NCNST. At the symposium, several nations were noticeable at the symposium. The symposium was followed by hands-on training for latest equipment relating to fabrication and characterization of nanomaterials in various laboratories of NCNST for participants.

The students of PINSAT received a befitting welcome on return after participation in “NANOTRIP-2017”. Islamabad campus of Preston University has organized an impressive get-together. Mr. Zhao Lijian, DCM & Political Counselor of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China was the Chief Guest of function. Mr. Jia Wei Secretary (Science & Technology) of the Embassy of China, Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University has chaired the function.

Dr. N. M. Butt, Chairman PINSAT briefed the activities of PINSAT and particularly emphasized on collective activities taken with NCNST including acceptance of 3 graduates of PINSAT by NCNST for higher studies of MS/Ph.D. every year and also participation of PINSAT in summer workshop every two years, with full financial support. He also stated that two alike MoUs were signed with Beijing Jiaotong University and the University of Science and Technology, Beijing.

Mr. Zhao Lijian, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and Political Counselor, Embassy of China valued the efforts of Preston University and PINSAT for such productive activities for students. He highlighted that science and technology is utmost priority of Chinese government, and there were opportunities for Pakistani students to hunt higher studies in China.

Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University acknowledged the students that participated in the conference on Nanotechnology “China Nano 2017”, and symposium. He assured that PINSAT-Preston University would collaborate with Chinese Institutions. Dr. Abdul Basit articulated his confidence that CPEC would pave way for more collaborative exchanges between the countries.

Mr. Jia Wei paid a visit of the PINSAT laboratories after the conclusion of the event. Later, he discussed with the PINSAT management for more collaboration between PINSAT and Chinese institutions. Project of “One Belt-One Road” international program was also discussion between them.
