Pakistan with a tremendous potential is one of the best countries in the world stated by Sean Kauffman, a behavioral expert from the United States, at the concluding session of a workshop held here at Dr A Q Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi on the topic, ‘A day of leadership in bio-safety.’
Kauffman said that the youth impressed him as were always enthusiastic to learn. He further said that Pakistani scientists doing excellent work not only in Pakistan but overseas.
The chief guest of the occasion was BARRET Hodgson University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Arif Siddiqui. He said that awareness about the bio-safety procedures and implementation on the safety protocols was the only way forward as per modern day biological science. “It is about time that not only the investors but the people at large will be aware of the risks of scientific research can make the society safer and maximize the benefits of science.”
KIBGE Director General Professor Abid Azhar said that the institute had launched an elaborate programme on bio-safety and bio-security.
He opined that if proper measures were not taken all scientific personnel, support staff and their family members, on top of the environment would be at risk.
“In this regard, he added, every visiting scholar from overseas becomes an ambassador of Pakistan.The goodwill generated is highly valuable for the growth of scientific culture in Pakistan.”
As per the latest rankings of Asian universities, Karachi University has secured 193rd position according to a press release issued by Karachi University.
KU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan has expressed his satisfaction over the achievement and congratulated KU faculty.
“KU now stands at 193rd position, I had promised in my inaugural speech that I would work on improving KU rankings in the world. We will make further significant improvement in university’s ranking in the world with the support of faculty members and the administration,” said the KU vice chancellor.
