Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) and American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) has signed a memorandum of understanding.

On behalf of COMSATS Executive Director COMSATS, Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi while on behalf of AIPS President AIPS, Dr. Farhat Haq has signed the MoU said a press note issued by the COMSATS secretariat. The signing was realized through cooperation between COMSATS and Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies.

This MoU will enhance the cooperation between the two organizations. It will also augment the higher education and research related activities in the member states and institutions.

The aim of this MoU is to promote research and capacity building activities along with the promotion of the cooperation between the two organization.

This MoU aims to promote cooperation between the two organizations for enhancing research and capacity building activities. The agreement will specifically promote cooperation in higher education and research, faculty training by foreign scholars, academic placements of faculty, share information and use the resources for COMSATS’ member countries and AIPS affiliated centers.

The organization has also consented to organize training and workshops by US academics for scholars and researchers, co-organize series of academic talks and seminars. They will organize such joint activities by visiting US researchers and undertake joint programmes in areas of interest.

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, COMSATS, is a file leader of quality higher education in IT.  While AIPS that is established in 1973 and a bi-national research and educational organization. AIPS was established to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchanges between USA and Pakistani higher education community. Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, Department of State, USA, and Government of Pakistan supports the AIPS is a consortium of 38 US universities and academic institutes.
