First impression EVO Wingle is a great looking sleek device, roughly the size of a normal USB with exceptional built quality. The small and light-weight device comes in an elegant pearl-white coloured exterior. The rounded edges at the top and bottom enhance the look further. The LED indicator panel lights up nicely with bright green and blue LED on connectivity.

User experience hi-link technology

One of the best features of EVO Wingle is the Hi-Link technology. The device does not need any driver to work. The device automatically establishes internet connectivity within 15 seconds simply by plugging the device in the USB port of any power source. This is an excellent feature as it eliminates the need to install drivers which is a somewhat cumbersome process.

Browsing and connectivity EVO Wingle connects to the Internet using PTCL’s 3G EVO Nitro network that allows for download speeds up to 9.3 Mbps. Even heavy web pages load quickly, and I found the response time to load pages very fast. For websites such as Youtube, Metacafe, BBC News, CNN, Facebook etc which boast heavy video and graphics content, the browsing experience was without a doubt, wonderful! Further, upon using the 3G WI-Fi connectivity for torrents, the average download speeds experience were around 4.0 Mbps.

Video streaming

The video streaming experience as tested with 3 devices connected via the Wi-Fi was found to be excellent. Although the experience is totally dependent on the desired display resolution used for streaming if using YouTube or Metacafe, however video streaming using a Wi-Fi network was excellent. All videos streamed perfectly.

Dashboard and Wi-fi security

EVO Wingle comes with a very clean-looking dashboard, which automatically opens up in the web-browser once the device is connected to the computer via USB port. The dashboard shows the 3G signal strength, the connection status; data download, upload statistics and connected Wi-Fi clients. Further the dashboard offers quick settings for setting-up your Wingle device. It allows to swiftly and easily setup the device SSID and security key password. Wingle offers various types of Wi-Fi security settings including, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WPA/WPA2-PSK with AES, TKIP and AES/TKIP encryption methods. The dashboard also allows advance user settings such as WLAN MAC filtering, DHCP, Firewall switch, LAN IP Filter, Virtual Server, DMZ, SIP ALG Settings, UPnP and NAT settings.

Performance

The download and throughput speed of EVO Wingle is excellent. The device performance over Wi-Fi was also found to be excellent and uncompromised. There were no data drops or any speed disruptions even with Wi-Fi. 5 devices connected simultaneously. The Wi-Fi security was found easy to set-up and functioning per specification.
