STAFF REPORT IBD: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has launched Pakistans first enterprise – Plan9 Tech Incubator, along with the assistance from the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITES (P@SHA).

The launching ceremony was held at Arfa Karim Software Technology Park, but it covers projects for Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, says a press release.

The first project will be held in Lahore in September and applicants from across the country can try in. Their selection will be finalized by the board of the Plan9 project, it added.

With the help of the Plan9 Tech Incubators team, many young IT entrepreneurs will be provided support.

According to P@SHAs President, Jehan Ara, those eager young entrepreneurs who have always wanted to start up such IT ventures were driven back due to costs are now getting a better opportunity to showcase their abilities.

The main aim that PITB Chairman Dr. Umar Saif expects the Plan9 project to achieve is to be sustainable into the future having long-lasting prospects.

He said that the purpose for making the Plan9 project is to engage anyone, even if a person is not from an IT field, in promoting local IT innovations culture.
