STAFF REPORT FBD: The Faisalabad Agriculture University (UAF) is working on development of application of decision support tools to conserve and sustainably use genetic diversity in indigenous livestock and wild relatives for two years and a proud partner of international community as it is working on more than 30 international projects.

UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said while addressing the recently held seminar on phenotypic and molecular characterization of indigenous chicken, goats and their wild relatives organized by the Dept of Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG) here.

He said that it is encouraging that scientists are executing field visits, basic scientific work on molecular characterization of indigenous chicken, goats and their wild relatives. He said that more than 270 faculty members went overseas for higher education, short training courses, and participated in various workshops, conferences, and seminars whereas 180 foreign delegates visited UAF during 2011-12 which is testament of its vast activities.

It is to be mentioned here that presently the world potential of halal meat export ranges up to three trillion dollars annually, however, Pakistan still have very dismal share in it.
