“Target to uplift agriculture by enhancing research by government has completely failed the target and

listless to bring any improvement in the state of affair of peasants’ life”, said the farmers and agriculture experts.

The government of Pakistan is pushing to try lasting policies for agriculture to improve the standards of a life of s farmer.

A commission has formed consisting of 35-member both national and international experts in agriculture during a consultative workshop held under the sponsorships of Agriculture Department with the collaboration of USAID, said former dean of the University of Sargodha. Its purpose to is to formulate a Punjab Agriculture policy by seeking suggestion from local farmers. Agriculture officers, engineers, professors, and faculty members have attended the workshop. He asked for solutions and suggestions from participants to formulate a lasting and strengthen agri sector for farmer’s prosperity.

Anjum Ali Butter, former DG Agriculture Punjab, while discussing with the workshop that backbone of Pakistan’s economy is agriculture but unfortunately poor policies have failed it. Agriculture has expanded as multi-dimensional departments. The reason for the rundown of agriculture is bogus seed quality, non-restricted use of pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers. In the workshop performance of governments’ departments are lamented by farmers and emphasized the promulgation of policies keeping in view ground realities. In the end of the workshop, Muhammad Afzal, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, shared his experiences during his visit to China and exchanged his views.
