Staff Report ISB: A seminar was held at Air University about ProQuest Dissertation and Theses Databases and SUMMON here on Tuesday, says a press release.


A seminar on ProQuest Dissertation and Theses (PQDT) and SUMMON was organized by Air University few days back. PQDT is the a system that simplifies the thesis and dissertation searching through a single access point.


The seminar was attended by ProQuest Manager, Anas Abdul Hadi,, VC Air University, faculty members, researchers, deans, and Head of Departments (HOD) of various departments of different universities of Rwp-Isb attended the seminar. Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood, HEC Advisor (RandD) was the chief guest.


Anas Abdul Hadi said, “ProQuest Dissertation and Theses (PQDT) Global streamlines searching for dissertations and theses via single access point to explore an extensive collection of 3.8 graduate works, with 1.7 million in full text. SUMMON is a great place to initiate research because it entails all HEC electronic database subscriptions.”


Air University Vice Chancellor, Air Vice Marshal (r), Faaiz Amir in his inaugural speech lauded this step of the HEC through its National Digital Library Program (NDLP). He further added that in accordance to our vision and objectives of a research-orientated university, we are firmly committed to a comprehensive higher education system with specific focus on creative teaching, research and to produce leaders so that they contribute efficiently in national development.


Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood, in his address hoped faculty and researchers for optimum utilization of electronic resources subscribed by HEC NDLP. He said that HEC is spending a huge amount on subscription of these high quality electronic resources in its attempt to promote research culture in the country. He anticipated that this seminar will certainly be very beneficial to the participants from various universities and urged that they will take full advantage of the benefits offered by this seminar.
