STAFF REPORT ISB: Speakers at an international conference have said that bioenergy is a versatile source that can be exploited to overcome the electricity challenge besides making a considerable contribution to climate change phenomenon. The event titled “Bio-Energy as Alternative Fuel” was jointly organized by the PCSIR, LCCI and and Umeed Foundation Trust.


The experts were of the view that biomass energy has the potential convert a wide variety of wastes into clean energy besides being substitution for diminishing global oil supplies.


The speakers who were experts of their field said that bio-energy can play a very vital role in production of carbon-neutral fuels of high quality.


“The main objective of this conference is to introduce a new technology for development and generation of CNG from wastewater/bio-waste,” said LCCI Acting President Mian Tariq Misbah.


He also said they all are aware of the present challenges to our economy and especially the menace widely caused due to severe energy crisis.


He informed the participants that there are serious efforts being made world over to introduce bio-methane as a renewable transport fuel in vehicles designed to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
