Smart schools project conceived and launched by Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reforms last year after certain administrative changes thrown in sluggishness. Under project 32 public educational institutions across the country has to be transformed.

“Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has to implement the project but no practical steps have been taken to make dream of smart schools come true while limited to documents”, revealed an official source in CA&DD.

The project was one of the major steps towards first goal of Vision 2025 as a part of Prime Minister Education Reforms Programme, Human and Social Capital.

“The only reason behind the delay is part of the concerned authorities after administrative changes “, the source said media. The project was supposed to transform 32 schools, 24 from Islamabad Capital territory and 8 from provinces, into Smart schools by use of modern technology.

The project has included training of teachers and principals of institutions under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) of private sector about use of up-to-date equipment and newest methodologies.

Modern concept of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) was blended to assign projects to students under project.

Central Development Working Party forum at a capital approved project titled “Establishment of Smart Schools in ICT” at cost of Rs.630.944 million. PSDP had allocated an amount of Rs.200.000 million for project by the for the Current Financial Year 2016-17.
