STAFF REPROT ISB: The final agreement for transmission line supply of 1300MW from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan is signed by Energy Ministers of Central Asia South Asia 1000 (CASA-1000).


Pakistan will benefit from this project in a way that it includes 750 kilometers High Voltage DC line from Sangtuda to Kabul (Afghanistan) to Peshawar (Pakistan) and 1300 MW DC-AC Convertor Station at Peshawar.


As indicated by Nepra, this project will cost $953 million. Pakistan will import power from Tajikistan and start getting power in 2017. Pakistan would have the capacity to import 300 MW additional power under this venture if Afghanistan does not utilize its offer of power if there is a low demand in the country.


Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif was present on the signing ceremony.
