STAFF REPORT KHI: A Chinese company will set up a 50-megawatt wind energy project at Gharo area of Sindh with the cost of $120 million. The project would start generating power by June 2015, said official sources.


On completion‚ the project would not only help reduce the power shortage to some extent‚ but would also create job opportunities for the local people.


The officials said that the company is also planning to launch nine more similar projects in the province if the scheme was met with success.


Presently, Pakistan is facing severe power shortfall ranging between 4000 to 7000 megawatts round the year which negatively hampering national economic growth, causing industrial stability and national life of consumers in addition to drastic decline in exports.
