STAFF REPORT IBD: The Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) has made considerable progress in various domains like enrolment, ranking, research publications, infrastructure. The Institute has been ranked by various organizations based on different criterions over the years and it has been ranked at top in the category of Computer Science and Technology by HEC in 2012 on the basis of Quality Assurance and Enhancement and Research.

“The student enrollment is a depiction of the excellent reputation of CIIT among Higher Education Institutes of the country. It has been ranked on 9th position by HEC among 136 universities of the country,” Registrar CIIT Prof. Dr. Izhar Hussain told the media.

During the year, the student enrollment crossed the figure of 19,000 which includes 81 per cent male and 19 per cent female students.

“Starting with just three academic programmes in 2000, CIIT is now offering 67 programmes in variety of disciplines. In order to provide students with the best of knowledge and to develop the faculty, CIIT provides them the opportunity of pursuing higher studies abroad. Currently more than 500 faculty members are studying abroad,” he said.

Prof Dr Izhar said that there are seven campuses of COMSATS, three major campuses in Islamabad, Lahore and Abbottabad and others at Attock, Wah, Sahiwal and Vehari.
