COMSATS-ISESCO workshop focused on training Omani scientists

STAFF REPORT ISB: The capacity building in scientific engineering equipment is of prime importance that should be realized by academia to prioritize the issue to meet the industrial challenges. COMSATS organized a five day National Training Workshop on theme Repair and Maintenance of Scientific Engineering Equipment in Universities, Institutions, and Small Scale Industries in Oman. The workshop aimed at training Omani scientists and technicians to upkeep their scientific equipment.

The focus areas of workshop were repairing of Spectrophotometer Systems; Flame Photometer Systems; Atomic Absorption system and XRF system; Thermal Analyzer; Gas Chromatographic Systems; HPLC Systems; Electron Microscopes; Laboratory Balances; Thermal Equipment (Oven and Furnace); and pH Meters.

Executive Director COMSATS, Dr. I. E. Qureshi while addressing to the participants said that event was important for promoting South-South cooperation in addressing scientific needs of ISESCO Member States. He hoped that the event would enhance mutual cooperation among researchers, technicians and engineers from the different institutions of Oman.

Dr Qureshi hoped that the event would enable linkages among the participants and experts for future networking and interaction.

The workshop was part of COMSATS South-South cooperation programme to address scientific needs of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) member states.
